This is my first attempt at this. Why, I ask myself, should I add to the vortex of opinion? Do I have something important to say? Will this get political? Will anyone ever read it? Probably no on all counts but I would like to voice my opinion regarding certain issues.
1) The earth is estimated to have the ability to support around 10,000,000,000 people if its resources are effectively managed. I hold the world view currently that most of the "unforseen" calamities occuring (global warming (if it exists), HIV,genocide in Africa) have much less to do with immoral or irresponsible behavior and more to do with overpopulaton and resource depletion. Here comes the tricky part....I think these above mentioned problems are a NATURAL consequence of too many people in too small a space using up too much stuff. I it obvious to me that a clean safe water supply for those living in abject povery would only worsen the problem (for instance in Africa). For those of you reading this (if you are there) this is the time to take your pulse. Now really think about how you feel about this idea, If anyone posts a reply I would like to sort of do a forensic analysis of their HONEST thoughts and shake out modes of reasoning, bias, world view, even religion. If you haven't already figured this out for yourself, the above diatribe is mostly for purpose of discussion not reflective of any strongly held self belief.
